An investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of Assistant Chief District Officer of Jhapa Vishwaraj Nepal after the prisoner who was arrested in the case of extortion has absconded.

24-year-old Jeevan Sah, resident of Bhadrapur Municipality-5, escaped from the hospital on Saturday night after stabbing the assailant. Sah was remanded to Jhapa Jail on 5th August last for preliminary investigation on the charge of raping a 16-year-old girl by the Jhapa District Court.

Sah was taken to Mechi Regional Hospital Bhadrapur on August 25 due to chest problem. He was referred to Omsai Pathibhara Hospital from Mechi Provincial Hospital. He evaded the police from the same hospital.

Police assistant constable Dhaneshwar Yadab, police constables Dipen Mandal and Samkumar Rai were deployed for Shah's security. It was seen in the CCTV footage of the hospital that Sah's wife made them drunk and Sah escaped from the hospital with his wife on a scooter after surprising the police.

After he absconded, police superintendent Milan KC said that a committee was formed with the assistant chief district officer Nepal, the police inspector of the district police office Jhapa, the national investigation office and the main members of the district jail Jhapa.

Earlier, a detainee of the Birtamod area police office had escaped by breaking the handcuffs. He was caught from Birtamod Bus Park on August 8, four days after absconding. Taking advantage of lax security management, it is said that such incidents have started happening one after the other in Jhapa.

It is said that the fugitive Saha fled towards India through Mechipari crossing through the hanging bridge located in Bhadrapur-3. It is said that he is going to India with his wife. He was being treated at Omsai Pathibhara Hospital in Bhadrapur and was sitting in cabin number two on the second floor of the hospital. It is said that he escaped from the hospital by pretending to go to the toilet.
