A man killed his wife by hitting her with a machete in Kathare located in Mahalakshmi Municipality-1 of Dhankuta. Local 29-year-old Vijay Darji killed his 25-year-old wife Sarita Darji at around 11 o'clock last night, police said.

DSP Rajbabu Maharjan, spokesperson of District Police Office Dhankuta, informed that his wife Sarita, who was injured by her husband's machete, died during treatment at the district Astal Dhankuta at around 4 am on Sunday. He said that according to the preliminary information, the stabbing occurred due to a general domestic quarrel.

After Vijay attacked his wife, he also hit himself with a khukuri. He was taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment. Ki Darzi has two daughters aged 5 and 11 years.
