Voters who have registered their voter list by the end of August and who will turn 18 by the 15th of November will be eligible to vote in the by-election. Local by-elections will be held on November 16. On Wednesday, the Election Commission has decided to update the electoral roll and the date on which voters will reach the age of eighteen years for the by-elections.
According to Narayan Prasad Sapkota, the spokesperson of the Commission, after obtaining citizenship by the middle of August, in the voter list The Commission has arranged that those who have registered their names and who have completed 18 years of age by the 15th of November can vote in the by-elections. At present, it is customary to register the voter's list as soon as the citizenship is obtained from the district administration offices. Although there is a rule to get citizenship at the age of 16, the right to vote is legal only after reaching the age of 18.
Commission has said that the list of voters who turn 18 years old on November 15th for the by-election will be published on the website on October 18th and from that day until October 30th, voters can correct any errors in the list.
'If a name is included in the voter list with incorrect information, filing a complaint against it, filing a petition to maintain a voter's name in more than one place only, giving notice to remove the name of a voter who has died or renounced citizenship from the voter list, etc. The time from October 18th to 30th has been set aside for this,' said Sapkota, the spokesperson of the commission. The commission has said that it will publish the final list on November 27.
The by-elections are being held on November 16 for 41 vacant posts of district coordination committee head, deputy head, village head, deputy head and ward head and municipal head, deputy head and ward head at the local level across the country.
