The National Human Rights Commission has monitored the condition of Deepak Silwal, who is on hunger strike, and has sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to protect his life.

The commission has followed up the correspondence regarding the health condition of 42-year-old Deepak Silwal of Fedap-5 of Tehrathum, who has been on a hunger strike at Shanti Batika in Kathmandu since last August 21, asking for an emergency heli to rescue women in labor pains and citizens of rural areas whose lives are at risk.

Tikaram Pokharel, the spokesperson of the commission informed that he has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs today to save Silwal's life. Pokharel said, 'During the monitoring, it was found that Silwal's health condition is deteriorating, the commission has today written to the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Police Complex Bhadrakali Kathmandu for his health care and life protection.'
