President Ramchandra Paudel appreciated the role played by the country's community radio for the establishment of a federal democratic republic, human rights, rule of law and social transformation and emphasized the need to increase public trust in democracy.

In a program held today at Rashtrapati Bhavan to congratulate the newly elected officers of Community Radio Broadcasters Association President Paudel said that the role of community radios in extreme situations like earthquakes and corona is commendable. He said that community radio plays an important role in informing citizens and promoting freedom of expression.

With the use of social media, factual and misleading information adds to the challenge of telling the reality President Paudel said that the media should always be alert to strengthen the people's faith in democracy by communicating true information to the people and making full use of freedom of press and expression.

He said that the role of radio workers is more important to the public as radio is the simplest, easiest and most reliable means of communication for not only literate but illiterate people who do not have access to other means of communication.
