Indrajatra festival is traditionally celebrated today by worshiping Indra, the god of rain and time.  This festival falls on Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi every year and is celebrated in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Dhulikhel, Dolakha and other places.

On the day of Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi, this Jatra is celebrated for eight days with different types of dances, chariot processions and worship of the gods and goddesses.

The lingo performed on the day of Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi is also known as 'Indradhvajotthan'. Bhairav is worshiped at the foot of the lingo. After the defeat of Satru, Indrajatra is celebrated as a festival to celebrate victory. Indrajatra is also considered as a festival to perform by worshiping Indradhvaj and gaining power.

A goat-touched tree left in Bhaktapur's Chitpol forest after being worshiped by Tantric methods is cut on the day of Bhadra Shukla II. After cutting the lingo, it is also considered auspicious to bring the lingo into the valley. After entering the valley, it is kept overnight in Bhotahiti and on the day of Ekadashi, the lingo of Indradhvaja is prepared. .

In the Indrajatra festival, which is mainly celebrated on this day, there is a tradition of watching the chariot procession of Shri Ganesha, Shri Bhairav and Shri Kumari, who are living goddesses, from the President to the Gaddi meeting at Hanumandhoka. As long as the monarchy existed, it was a tradition for the king to watch the chariot procession of Shri Ganesha, Shri Bhairav and Shri Kumari.

After the lingo of Indradhvaja is hoisted, during the festival, Bhakkunach, Mahakalinach, Lakhenach, Dasaavatar and Pulukisi dance is performed as a symbol of Airavata elephant, the vehicle of Lord Indra.

On the eighth day after the lingo of the Indradhvaja, i.e. on the day of Ashwin Krishna Chauthi, there is a law to 'fall the Indradhvaj' i.e. fight. "There is a classical system of fighting on the night of Bharani Nakshatra, which is mentioned as 'Bharanya Nishi Patayet'," said theology professor Devmani Bhattarai.

On this occasion, devotees flock to Indradah in Dahchok, west of the valley, to stay awake all night on the day of Bhadra Shukla Purnima and take a bath on Wednesday.
