The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a study committee to solve the citizenship problem. A five-member committee was formed on Monday under the coordination of Tokaraj Pandey, head of the policy, planning monitoring and evaluation division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The committee will consist of the Deputy Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Law, the representative of the Law Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Deputy Secretary of the Citizenship and National Identity Card Management Branch. The

committee will be asked to A deadline has been given for submitting the study report. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the committee has been given the mandate to identify the problems faced by the citizens at present.

In addition, it has been asked to analyze the existing legal system in order to solve the problem and suggest the laws, regulations and procedures that need to be improved for the solution. According to the need, the committee can invite people who have problems related to citizenship and subject matter experts.

Earlier, a draft of Procedure for Issuing and Managing Nepali Citizenship Certificates, 2081 was discussed in the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday in the presence of Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar.
