Climate change is having an unimaginable impact on the Himalayas: Foreign Minister Rana

At the international conference on environmental change in the Himalayan region held in Lalitpur on Friday in a joint project of seven organizations including the National Nature Conservation Fund, Minister Rana said that due to climate change, the melting of mountains is increasing rapidly. She said that this is having a negative impact not only on the lifestyle of the citizens living in the Himalayan region, but also on the entire ecological cycle.

'Due to climate change, not only in Nepal but also in the Himalayan region, it is affecting the country in an unimaginable way. Although the impact of climate change on the communities living in this area seems to be personal, the lack of water resources they are facing is affecting the agricultural system of the area. Due to the effect of which, along with the mountains, there is a situation of crisis of human existence', she said.

Pointing out the need to think about the crisis caused by climate change very seriously, she said that due to the same effect seen in the Himalayan region, a glacier broke out in Thame in Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal.

'Last year in Kagbeni, Mustang district in the west, there was a huge loss of life due to the impact of climate change,' she said. Since it is happening in the area, everyone should work together.'

In the Himalayan region, black mountains appear due to the melting of mountains, the growth of glaciers and the bursting of glaciers, heavy rains and floods in the Himalayan region, etc. She said that the targeted program should be started.
