On the Dhulikhel-Khawa road section under the Araniko highway, the operation of cargo vehicles including tippers has been prohibited for two more days from today.

In order to continue road maintenance, the road division office at Bhaktapur stopped the operation of tippers and goods vehicles on Friday and Saturday. Due to the negligence of the construction company named Gauri Parvati Construction Services of Kathmandu, the construction was not completed on time and the road is in a dilapidated and dangerous condition during the rainy season. This is the main road from Kathmandu to Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Ramechhap and the Tatopani border connecting the autonomous region of China to Tibet.

Meghraj Marasini, the head of the division office, after verbal agreement to continue the construction work from Thursday, it was decided to completely shut down the means of freight transportation to continue the construction on Thursday and Friday . Earlier, last May, traffic (except fire brigade, ambulance, hearses and security agency vehicles) was closed for about a week for the expansion of the road section. Besides, for two weeks tipper and cargo transport vehicles were also completely prohibited.

The Dhulikhel-Khawa road section, which has been dilapidated for a few years, was going to be widened by 12 meters and paved. In order to strengthen the load carrying capacity of the freight vehicles plying on the said road, the office planned to put a 20 cm thick base mixed with cement on the gravel for the first time in Nepal and to do a two-stage black sheet DBM and asphalt black sheet . A budget of 20 million 19 lakh 46 thousand five hundred rupees was allocated for this road.
