The Government of Nepal is going to celebrate the Constitution Day (National Day), 2081 for three days by organizing various programs in a special way.


The original ceremony committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to celebrate the historic day when the Constitution of Nepal was issued on 3rd October 2072 by the Constituent Assembly. Various sub-committees have also been formed for the effective management of the program of the main ceremony. The

committee has decided to hold Diwali and other programs in Nepali embassies and missions in Nepal and abroad for three days on October 2, 3 and 4 and to celebrate the Constitution Day on October 3. According to the instructions of the committee, arrangements have been made to create, conduct and broadcast public awareness programs including special dialogues, seminars, radio dramas, and other programs focused on the constitution on the 2nd of October under the federal government and central level programs.

Similarly, the committee has decided to request the national level print media to publish a special issue/souvenir on the occasion of the Constitution Day (National Day) as well as to publish a compilation of various articles highlighting the multilateral dimension of the Constitution. According to the committee, programs on the importance of the Constitution will be broadcast/published and seminar programs will be conducted through Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, other electronic and print media of the community and private sector.

Likewise, arrangements will be made to decorate the roofs, verandas and premises of all government agencies, institutions, organizations and premises with national flags of the prescribed size and to light lamps in areas such as Mandala, Durbar Square and all government and non-government offices in the evening. Common citizens will be invited to decorate the national flag on their roofs and verandas and celebrate Deepavali in the evening.

On October 3, the Nepali Army will play a bugle (reveille) and fire cannons and guns (salvo and volley fire) at Sainik Manch, Tundikhel in the morning. There is a program of displaying 'Constitution Day, 2081' banner across the ring road from the helicopter of the Nepali Army and showering flowers and displaying the banner from the helicopter at the Nepalese Military Forum, Tundikhel. The Nepali Military Forum will organize the official main ceremony of Constitution Day, 2081 at Tundikhel and the elected public representatives, national service employees, security personnel, public and community organizations and officials of educational and academic institutions, employees and general public will be invited to attend the ceremony.

Similarly, on October 4th, the committee has decided to decorate the roofs, verandas and premises of all government agencies, institutions and organizations with national flags of the prescribed size and light lamps in areas such as Mandala and Durbar Square in the evening.

Nepali embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates abroad on October 2, 3 and 4 decorated the national flags of prescribed sizes on the office roofs, verandas and premises and lit lamps in the evening. According to the committee, electronic promotional materials reflecting the characteristics will be prepared and sent to Nepali diplomatic agencies abroad through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for appropriate publicity.
