The operation of cargo vehicles including tippers has been banned for two days on the Dhulikhel-Khawa road section of Kavre under the Araniko highway. In order to continue the road maintenance, Road Division Office Bhaktapur has stopped the operation of tipper and freight vehicles today and tomorrow.

Due to the carelessness of the builders, the main road from Kathmandu to Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Ramechhap and Tatopani border connecting China is in a dangerous condition due to the dilapidation of the road during the rainy season.

As the Dhulikhel-Khawa road section under construction is very dilapidated, the office has requested everyone to help in the construction of the road. Tippers transporting construction materials as well as containers transporting goods entering Nepal through China's Khasa have been operating on that road.

The office has requested through a public notice on Wednesday to close the means of freight transport completely for two days for road construction. Binod Gautam, the ward presidents of Dhulikhel Municipality-8 and Panchkhal Napa-5, which fall under the highway, and Sitara, reached the road division office in Bhaktapur on Tuesday to lock down the office of the road division office, Bhaktapur, after the citizens of the Madhyapahari area had to suffer a lot due to the neglect of the construction company even after five months of Dhungana road expansion. Meghraj Marasini, the head of the

office, after verbally agreed to continue the construction work from today, it was decided to completely shut down the means of freight transport to continue the construction on Thursday and Friday. Even before last May, the road section was closed for four hours daily for about a week for expansion work (except for fire engines, ambulances, hearses and vehicles of security agencies). Along with this, tipper and cargo transportation vehicles were also completely prohibited for two weeks.

Meanwhile, small vehicles are requested to use the same route as there are alternative routes to reach Panchkhaal via Char Dobato-Raviop in Banepa and BP Highway-Tinpiple-Panchkhaal. Apart from this, small vehicles can also use the Nagarkot-Kuntabensi-Jirokilo road, while all types of vehicles coming towards Kathmandu via Dolalghat-Panchkhaal can use the Kuntabensi Nagarkot road from Jirokilo.

The deadline for the road section under construction expired on March 19. The road division office, Bhaktapur, and the construction company had set a date of 22 months, i.e., 19th of Chait 2080, for the expansion of the said road section along with upgrading. A budget of 20 million 19 lakh 46 thousand five hundred rupees was allocated for this section.

The Dhulikhel-Khawa road section, which has been dilapidated for a few years, was to be widened by 12 meters and paved. In order to strengthen the carrying capacity of freight vehicles plying on that road, the office planned to put a 20 cm thick cement base on the gravel for the first time in Nepal and to do two stages of DBM and asphalt paving.

Nepal's northern border, that is, the eastern-northern region of Tatopani, is reached through Arani Highway. Similarly, this highway road is used for commuting from various places like Sindhupalchok, Ramechhap, Dolakha.
