Bar sit-in because the Justice Council is going to appoint judges unconstitutionally

The Nepal Bar Association has staged a sit-in at the Secretariat of the Judicial Council saying that the Judicial Council is going to appoint judges unconstitutionally.
The Bar objected that the Judicial Council has been unconstitutionally amending the Judicial Council Rules and has been appointing judges through the same rules for the past one year.
Speaking to the media, Bar President Gopalkrishna Ghimire said that the Judicial Council has amended the rules and divided the judges into two categories.
'There is a situation where the Justice Council has been appointing judges through the unconstitutionally amended Justice Council Regulations for a year . It is our clear stand that the Judicial Council cannot and will not appoint judges in such an unconstitutional manner. We kept that thing peacefully. But until today, the Chairman of the Justice Council, the Chief Justice, none of the members of the Justice Council showed attention to listen to this matter. That's why Nepal Bar Association is forced to take this step today. We are on a campaign to encircle the Justice Council. This unconstitutional work of the Judicial Council should be stopped immediately', Chairman Ghimire said.
He said that the Judicial Council has issued a regulation in violation of Article 141 (3) of the Constitution, which states that no law will be made to change the order of dignity, and that it will be unconstitutional when a judge is appointed in accordance with the regulation.
He informed that even though he drew attention to this matter time and time again, the Judicial Council did not listen, so he was forced to start a protest.
'If they don't stop this, the result will not be good . How do people who are sitting in a place to protect justice themselves violate justice . Here is one of the most basic examples of how they violate the constitution. We oppose the unconstitutional work of the Justice Council. "We will not allow the appointment of judges until the unconstitutional regulations are repealed," said President Ghimir.
President Ghimire also warned that if the meeting of the Justice Council is held outside the Justice Council Secretariat, the result will not be good .
