Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the government is working towards making the communication sector more orderly through laws and regulations.

In a press conference organized by Press Chowtari Nepal Gandaki Province in Pokhara today, Minister of Communications Gurung stated that most of the laws and existing laws related to the communication sector are outdated and said that the government has moved towards creating new laws based on the needs by revising those laws in time. He mentioned that since the National News Committee (RASS), Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, Gorkha Patra, Post Office and other organizations related to the media sector are operating according to the old laws and regulations, the government has taken steps to amend them as per the need.

Stating that the Social Media Regulation Act and Cybercrime Act are in the final stages, Communications Minister Gurung said that the Public Broadcasting Act (PSB) and the Media Council Bill are under discussion. He mentioned that after the formation of PSB, the government is trying to make Nepal Television and Radio Nepal more organized and citizen-friendly by making them somewhat autonomous. Stating that

government should have its own statlight, Minister of Communications Gurung mentioned that it will reflect its own identity as well as self-respect. He informed that the government has moved forward according to the concept of Digital Nepal to achieve more achievements in the areas of good governance, prosperity, effectiveness of the government. He says that the government is trying to print passports, driver's licenses, excise stickers etc. within the country through the operation of

security press. Communication Minister Gurung said, 'I am committed that I can do this work within one year. The government is planning to print bank notes within the country.

Communication Minister Gurung informed that the Ministry plans to deliver "4G" to Muluvar and "FiveG" to the main cities within the current financial year. He said that the government is making a plan and making a framework for the promotion of tourist destinations in Nepal and the development of the tourism sector.

Stating that the government is taking initiatives to bring the Federal Police Act and the Federal Civil Service Act within this year, Minister of Communications Gurung opined that federalism will be effectively implemented if these Acts are enacted. Stating that the current ruling coalition will continue until the 2084 elections, he emphasized that the journalism world should give priority to development, construction and agriculture over the negative aspects of society.

Regarding the stand taken by the Chief Minister in Gandaki Province, Minister of Communications Gurung said that the government should be reconstituted in Gandaki according to the spirit of the federal alliance. He pointed out the need for the culture and politics of the alliance to be carried out honestly.
