Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal has monitored the under-construction Muglin-Pokhara road project. On Friday evening, Dahal carried out on-site monitoring of the road from Ambukhaireni to Jamune in Tanahun under the Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan (Eastern Section) and from Jamune to Pokhara under the Western Section.

Concerned about the progress of the project, Minister Dahal has instructed to speed up the remaining work . He said that the government is committed to solving the problems encountered in the work of the project and urged them not to delay the work.

Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey of Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan (Eastern Section) informed Minister Dahal about the progress from Ambukhaireni to Jamune. Pandey informed that 65 percent progress has been made in this section so far. Similarly, he said that 30 percent progress has been made in the bridge being constructed on the Madi River in Damauli.

In this section, 55 kilometers of two-lane roads have been paved in one year. He said that till now, 63 km section of black paper has been completed in one direction. Eastern section includes Beas municipality, Myagde rural municipality, Ambukhaireni rural municipality, Bandipur rural municipality. Among them, due to the delay in removing the roofs in some parts of Damauli market and Dumre market of Beas Municipality, the black sheet work has not progressed.

According to Pandey, the construction of 14 small bridges under the eastern section has been completed. Similarly, Pandey informed that the construction of two big bridges and one hundred and three culverts has been completed.

In the eastern section, the agreement was signed on January 17, 2077 and the work started on May 2, 2078. The contract for the eastern section has been awarded to China Communication Construction.

The 20 km two-lane road from Jamune to Pokhara under the western section has been paved. According to Narayan Poudel, Engineer of Muglin Pokhara Road Plan (West Section), five bridges have been completed out of the target of constructing 11 bridges. Out of the 13 bridges to be built, Paudel informed that the construction of the superstructure of eight bridges has been completed.

While there has been little progress in the western section for some time now, the pace of work has increased somewhat. According to Paudel, the physical progress in road upgrading has increased from 9 percent to 28 percent with the support and cooperation of the concerned agencies in the financial year 2080/81 at the initiative of the planning office. The deadline for the

western section is till 12th August 2081. In the western section, the agreement was signed on 2nd June 2078 and the work started on 12th August 2078. The Chinese company Yanhui Kaiyuan Highway and Bridge Construction has been entrusted with the construction of this section.

After the increase in traffic on the road, which was planned in 2026, the road is going to be made four-lane with the help of Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan. The contract for the eastern section is worth 6 billion 21 crore 31 lakh 13 thousand rupees and the contract for the western section is for 7 billion 40 crore 46 lakh rupees.
