Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he will urge the Indian side to understand the report of the Enlightened Persons Group (EPG) formed for the review of the Nepal-India Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950.

He said that the border disputes between the two countries can be resolved through further dialogue with the agreement of the top level between Nepal and India. "By asking the Indian side to understand the report of the EPG, issues such as the border dispute can be resolved through further dialogue," Oli said.

Oli also recalled that when India imposed a blockade on Nepal in 2072, when he was the Prime Minister, it was an epoch-making task to have a trade and transit agreement with China. He said that his priority is to expand balanced relations between the two countries. "Since it is common for problems to appear between neighboring countries, they can be resolved through open dialogue," he said.

Releasing the book 'Blockade and Geopolitics' written by former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Monday, Oli stressed on the need to find a solution based on facts and evidence by bearing international responsibility as well as legitimate national interests.

Nepal maintains good relations with both neighbors based on balance, honesty and impartiality. We do not use any card of one neighbor against another. We don't care about anyone. We will not allow our land to be used against any neighbor," said Prime Minister Oli. "We seek neutrality and a peaceful solution. We follow the principles of the United Nations. If it is violated, we should be able to say that it was unfair. You should be able to put facts ahead of logic. We are sensitive to world peace and the security of our citizens. No country should act to push the self-esteem of others for its own interests.

Prime Minister Oli said that it is not appropriate to think of the effect of 'geopolitics' to hide the weakness and selfishness within the country, and he also urged the nation to hoist the flag of national self-respect. Thapa, the author of the

book, said that when he was the foreign minister, he discussed the revision of the 1950 friendship treaty with India and that since he was a shareholder of the railway, oil and transportation agreement with China, he should emphasize on its implementation. He said that he was also a witness to the suffering of Nepali people due to the economic blockade imposed by India in 2045 and 2072.

'I have closely seen the pain that Nepalis suffered at that time. Let that never happen again," he said. He mentioned in the book that he told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that this was wrong. I told the Prime Minister of India that the economic embargo on Nepal's internal problems is wrong. As the foreign minister, I addressed the United Nations General Assembly that even though we are a small country, blockade is not acceptable," he said.

He said that there was a problem with India due to conceptual differences in geopolitics and security matters. It is to narrow it down. This is also a suitable opportunity for the government,'' he said. The transit agreement with China was not implemented.

He said that Nepal is not only a challenge but also an opportunity between China and India. "Being between China and India is a good thing," he said, "therefore, we should be able to maintain a balanced relationship between the two countries."
