The Police Headquarters has awarded six policemen, including DSP Sukdev Khanal and Tek Bahadur Raut, for saving pilot Manisharatna Shakya safely in the plane crash of Sairya Airlines.

Two DSPs were honored with a cash award of Rs 2200 each and four jawans were honored with Rs 2000 cash each. DSP Khanal and Raut along with police jawans Sriram Periyar, Karan Singh Chausir, Bhimprasad Gautam and Krishna Joshi were awarded by the Police Headquarters. All of them ;was stationed at Tribhuvan International Airport security .

On Wednesday morning at 11:11, the accident occurred shortly after leaving the runway. After that, the police immediately reached the accident site from their regular duty and took the driver Shakya out of the plane that crashed. For ship repair from Kathmandu 17 Nepalese and 1 foreign citizen including the co-pilot, technician/employee of Sairya Airlines died in the accident while going to Pekhra.

The rescued driver Shakya is being treated at Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal. According to the hospital, his condition is out of danger, and the bodies of all those who died in the accident have been kept at the Maharajganj University Teaching Hospital for post-mortem.
