  • The last commercial flight was on June 4 between Bhadrapur and Biratnagar

The CRJ aircraft of Sourya Air, which crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday, has not been in flight for 35 days. The ship was not flown after June 4 as the main 'landing gear' had to be replaced. After changing the 'landing gear', the ship was flying to Pokhara on Wednesday for further maintenance.

According to a flight inspector of the Civil Aviation Authority, the aircraft had made its last commercial flight to Bhadrapur and Biratnagar. Which has also been confirmed by Saurya's Deputy General Manager Umesh Acharya. "The aircraft's landing gear was not used in commercial flights as it had to be stopped after June 18 (June 4) according to the maintenance calendar method," he said.

Solar has three CRJ aircraft. However, as of Wednesday, he had only put one ship (the Alpha Nov Mike) into commercial flight. Mukesh Khanal, marketing head of Sourya informed that the commercial flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and Biratnagar has been suspended until further decision after Alpha Mic Echo accident.

According to Sourya's deputy general manager Acharya, the landing gear used in the ship that crashed on Wednesday was sent to Canada a year ago for repair. The landing gear was installed on the ship only a week ago after being brought in for repairs. Before that, the landing gear of the ship that was stored was removed and used.

Sourya brought the ship to Nepal in 073 Chait. According to the ship's registration certificate, it had flown 28 thousand 785 hours till 081 Baisakh. The deadline for its certificate is 082 Baisakh. Another important certificate issued by the regulatory body for ships is that of airworthiness (airworthiness), which has an expiry date of 083 Baisakh. The ship was being taken to Pokhara on Wednesday after obtaining permission from the authority for the C-check which is done every two years.

Two technicians called by Sourya from Turkey were coming to Nepal next Wednesday for C-Check to be held at Pokhara International Airport. Four days ago, a truck of spare parts was delivered to Pokhara.

On Thursday, the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the Parliament called Tourism Minister Badri Pandey, Acting Tourism Secretary Indu Ghimire, Director General of Aviation Authority Pradeep Adhikari, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport Jagannath Niraula, Executive Chairman of Nepal Air Service Corporation Yuvraj Adhikari and others. was During the discussion, Congress MP Uday Shamsher Rana urged Tourism Minister Pandey to advance the bill to divide the authority into regulatory and service provider organizations to improve flight safety in Nepal. Other MPs said that an autonomous regulatory body should be formed to make Nepal's air security effective.

There is a legal provision to make Accident Investigation Commission mandatory to find out the cause of any non-military aviation accident within Nepal. The Council of Ministers has formed a 5-member commission on Wednesday to investigate the accident. In the meeting of the parliamentary committee, the director general of the authority said that they could not talk about the ship accident as the commission had already started the investigation.

Rashtriya Swatantra Party MP Shishir Khanal and Congress MP Rana said that there is a trend of tourism ministers and heads of regulatory agencies resigning from their positions when there are air accidents in other countries. In this regard, the director general's reply was, 'The honorable said that the director general should resign after the accident due to personal bias. However, the reports so far have shown the pilot to be guilty in most of the incidents and not the director general.'

The director general expressed the opinion with Kantipur that there would be no objection if the bill designed to divide the authority was advanced. "If there is an improvement in aviation safety, it is acceptable for the authority to bring an act or an ordinance," he said He said that the investigation commission will identify the cause of the accident, expose the human and mechanical deficiencies in the accident, recommend measures to be adopted for safety and collect and analyze information to prevent future accidents.

'The report of the commission does not prescribe punishments,' he said, 'the commission is to warn to prevent more accidents. The airline companies will not develop if the commission starts imposing punishments by pointing out the culprits. The report of the investigation commission must be provided to the concerned bodies including the ship manufacturing company, the International Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Aviation Safety Agency (IASA) under the European Union.
