Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has said that there is continuous initiative with the Russian government at the highest diplomatic level regarding rescuing the Nepalis recruited in the Russian army. At the meeting of the International and Tourism Committee under the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Minister Rana said, "Continuous efforts are being made with Russia at the highest diplomatic level."

So far, 323 people have applied for rescue, while the number of those who have not been in contact and have applied for search and return is 116 . There are 161 requested to be returned due to injuries or other reasons.

In addition, Minister Rana said that since the beginning, the government of Nepal has been continuously taking bilateral and multilateral diplomatic initiatives at the highest level for the rescue of Nepali Bipin Joshi, who is being held by the Palestinian rebel group Hamas. When Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 10 Nepalis were also killed and Joshi was captured.
