Nirmal Bishta, an employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, who pressured people to send people abroad on visit visas using the names of Home Minister and Home Secretary, has been arrested.
Bista said that he has spoken to Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, his secretariat and Home Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, etc., and on June 21st (Friday), he put undue pressure on Suresh Panthi, Chief Immigration Officer of Tribhuvan Airport Immigration Office, to not stop 20 people going to third countries through Thailand. ;
After Chief Immigration Officer Panthi refused the pressure and inquired at the ministry, Bishta's report was made public. Home Secretary Aryal removed Bista from service on June 25 (Tuesday) after he was found to be involved in the business of sending foreign visitors on a visit visa while in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
SSP Om Rana of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau said that the team of the bureau took Bista under control and proceeded with the investigation. A complaint was filed saying that the name of the minister and the secretary were added to the visit visa and the money was collected illegally. He was detained based on that complaint,' he said.
After losing his job, Bista, who came to plead for Thamauti, was arrested by the home minister from the ministry on Thursday. Bista has been handed over to the police for further investigation on suspicion of illegally sending people on a visit visa.
Bista was taken into custody by the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau. Bista was working in the Ministry of Home Affairs as a computer operator since 2075.
