'Miss Universe Nepal 2023' Jane Deepika Garrett has said that the wrong perception of beauty standards can be removed through education. In the fourth session of the program 'Nirbhik Nari' organized by Kantipur Publications in Kathmandu on Thursday, she argued that only if the misconceptions are removed from people's minds, they will be removed from the society.

'Every person is different, they look different . I don't know how the standard of beauty in our society came to be, where a person has to look a certain way . This is not a toxic thought, people do surgery with this thought. They try to change themselves,' she said, 'so we have to remove this kind of thinking from people, if we can't remove that thinking from people, how can we remove the standard of beauty from the society .'

Garrett also says she's using social media to share her misconceptions about beauty standards. I am spreading the message that someone who is different, looks different, they are beautiful and they should be accepted,' she said, 'so through education we should teach our students to accept themselves.'

When trying to join Miss Universe Nepal, Garrett has the experience of not believing in him from his family at the beginning. "My father heard my decision to go to Miss Universe and told me not to joke," she said.

A feeling arose in Garrett that he would prove himself when no one believed him for Miss Universe Nepal. 'Yes, I didn't fall under any beauty standards . But, I continued to apply myself to it . But, I keep moving forward . If I had given up then, I wouldn't have come this far,' she said, 'so we have to love ourselves . And believe in yourself and move forward.'
