Urban Development Minister Dhan Bahadur Budha and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah have discussed the issue of cooperation in waste management at the Bancharedanda landfill site in Nuwakot. Mayor Shah Singh reached Darbar to meet Minister Budha on Tuesday.
In the meeting, there was a discussion about working on a long-term plan for the waste management of the valley and moving forward through mutual cooperation. The minister proposed to move forward together with Shah on the matter of managing the waste in Bancharedanda and addressing their demands in order to address the concerns of the locals.
Mayor Shah said that he is ready to cooperate in waste management. He said that the zero waste program is about to start and the cooperation of the ministry is necessary. In the meeting, Mayor Shah said that the city will provide necessary cooperation and facilitation to manage the waste by further improving the structure made for waste management at the landfill site in Bancharedanda.
Minister Budha stated that he has instructed his subordinate agencies to reduce the amount of waste going to Bancharedanda and mentioned that the ministry wants to coordinate and cooperate with Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality for a long-term solution to waste management.
