Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav has informed that Melamchi water will be redistributed in Kathmandu valley from the first week of October. He also said that the government is preparing to remove the shortage of drinking water soon.

Minister Yadav while answering the questions raised by the parliamentarians in the meeting of the National Assembly on Tuesday mentioned that currently water is being distributed once in 6 days in Kathmandu and informed that the government is also looking for an alternative to Melamchi to eliminate that problem.

As soon as the weather improves, Minister Yadav says that water will be sent to the Melamchi project tunnel. He said that since the water of Melamchi water supply project is not available regularly, alternative measures have been adopted to provide drinking water to the people of Kathmandu.

Minister Yadav said that the necessary program of the government has been advanced to make the dam site of Melamchi water supply project safe and provide water regularly.

As an alternative to Melamchi, Minister Yadav also informed that the government has completed a feasibility study to distribute water from Bhaktapur's Mahadeva river, Toshne river, and Sisne river to Kathmandu valley. The DPR is in the final stage after the feasibility study has been completed to distribute the water of Bhaktapur's Mahadeva River, Tosne River, and Sisne River in Kathmandu Valley. After the completion of these projects, more drinking water facilities will be available in Kathmandu Valley. We are working on this,' Yadav said, 'there are such springs in five places in Tarakeshwar, where if we spend 25 to 30 million directly, we will get at least 14 to 15 million liters of water. We are also working on that.'

The Minister said that there are legal complications for consuming local water resources and the situation will be brought to use water by removing them. He informed that there is currently a shortage of drinking water in Kathmandu Valley. "Now we are giving water for 6 days, soon we will solve this problem and deliver drinking water to the people," he said.
