Police have arrested two people from Kathmandu on the charge of illegally conducting International Incoming Call Bypass (VOIP). Those arrested are 40-year-old Bhupendra Shrestha of Lishankhupakhar Rural Municipality-5 of Sindhupalchok and resident of Banasthali and 24-year-old Khumprasad Giri of Jhapa Gauriganj Rural Municipality-4 of Kapan.

They were arrested by the police team deployed by the Central Bureau of Investigation with the technical support of Nepal Telecom and Ncell based on information that they were operating VOIP illegally without obtaining permission from any government agency.

The police have seized various equipment used in VoIP, one router, one eight-port VoIP gateway, one inverter, one battery, one Nepal Telecom SIM card and nine Ncell SIM cards from Bhupendra's house in Vanasthali Kharibot.

According to the police, necessary investigation is being conducted against them for the offense under the Telecommunication Act, 2053, after taking permission from District Court Kathmandu for five days.
