Employing 912 people through Shram Bank of the metropolis

The metropolis made a three-year action plan for employment promotion, trained 15,000 people and introduced Gaurav Yojana 'Employment and Income Growth in Kathmandu' and 'Shram Bank' Golden Yojana with the aim of creating direct employment for 5,000 people. Vimala Koirala, head of social development department of the metropolis, said that according to the same plan, the metropolis has employed 912 people since the financial year 080/81. She said that the labor force produced from the skill fair was linked to the labor bank and given employment.

'Mahanagar organized a labor fair in Baisakh of 081 under the skill fair. We held a labor fair to find out how to connect the manpower generated from this with employment," she says. "We invited employers to the fair and coordinated with the metropolis." Koirala says that the program has been continued in this financial year 081/82 as the new budget has not yet been implemented.

'Now anyone who wants employment in Kathmandu Metropolitan City can join Shram Bank by keeping their qualifications,' she said while giving more information about Shram Bank, 'Some private companies are asking for workers from the metropolis. At that time, we will select the application and give the name.' Since the metropolis has applied through the labor bank, it has also arranged training for capacity building if necessary. She said that the metropolis has joined the labor bank so that it is easy to see the number of people who have got jobs in one system.

In the financial year 080/81, 2 thousand 555 people have been trained through the skill fair 081, 1 thousand 467 people have been trained through the training center of the metropolis and 2 thousand 6 thousand 22 people have been trained online. Through this, 912 people have been employed through the Labor Bank, including 455 skilled, 38 semi-skilled and 418 unskilled. "With the small efforts of the metropolis, more than 1700 Nepali brothers and sisters have been employed and self-employed in one financial year," Balen Shah, the head of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality, has announced the details of employment through Labor Bank on his social network, "In the financial year 081/82, both schemes will be further refined. We have prepared a budget and program to achieve more than the target.'
