The electricity of the national transmission line has reached Susta Rural Municipality-5 of Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West). Nepal Electricity Authority has constructed a 5 km 11 KV line from Sakardinayi located in Susta Rural Municipality-5 and delivered electricity of the national transmission grid to Susta Basti across the Narayani River.

1 thousand 571 m built on Narayani river. In order to fully comply with the standards of load management and electrical safety of the long suspension bridge, 11 KV lines were constructed from right to left and electricity was delivered to Susta Basti.

Sustabasti, which is surrounded by the Narayani river on three sides and is connected to the border with India on one side, has been connected to the electricity of the national transmission line after the authority has delivered the 11 KV line. With the construction of a suspension bridge over the Narayani River to connect the slums, the extension of the power line has also become possible.

Rural Municipality, Lumbini Provincial Government and Alternative Energy Promotion Center installed 100 kilowatts of solar power to supply electricity to Sustabasti. Due to the lack of regular maintenance of the solar power plant, the electricity supply was not being reliable.

Two distribution transformers of 100 KVA capacity have been placed for power supply in Susta Basti. Connection and testing of power lines and transformers have been completed. Now electricity supply will be started from there to the homes of the consumers. There are about 350 households in Sustabasti. Kulman Ghising, executive director of the

authority, said that the power of the national transmission line was delivered to Susta in the last journey of complete electrification under the campaign to lighten the country. "Even though solar energy was being supplied to Sustabasti, it was not reliable and of good quality, there was a demand for electrification from the locals. Reaching the national grid in Sustabasti, which is bordered with India, is also important from the point of view of nationalism," said Executive Director Ghising.

The electrification work of Sustabasti was started in the financial year 2079/080 with an estimated cost of 1 crore 33 lakh rupees. As it was not possible to bury a pole in the river to cross the line Narayani, we had to wait until the construction of the suspension bridge was completed.
