Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari has emphasized on the need to increase investment in agriculture to reduce poverty among rural farmers. At the opening ceremony of the Agricultural Expo-2081 held by the Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Biratnagar on Thursday, the minister said that the government has announced the Decade of Agricultural Investment to increase agricultural production and productivity.

The minister also said that investment in special products for investment in agriculture will be facilitated through banks and financial institutions for the investment decade. 'The investment of the private sector and the cooperative sector is not in line with the expectations, so the modernization and commercialization of the agricultural sector is not happening,' said the minister, 'it is necessary to create an environment for the private sector to invest in agriculture.' Agriculture Minister Adhikari said, 'Investment in Agriculture Decade campaign will focus the investments of all three levels of the current government structure, farmers, cooperatives, private sector, development partners in the commercialization of the agricultural sector.'

Agriculture Minister Adhikari said that when the agricultural products produced in Nepal are not getting the market easily, through expos or festivals, the consumption of indigenous products will be facilitated and information about the potential of the market will also be available. He said that it is necessary to search for the diversification of dairy products as well as marketing in the country.

The increase in the price of milk has led to an increase in the production cost of Churpi, cheese and nauni, the minister said. He also says that he is aware that the competitive ability of Nepali Churpi is weak.
