Ganesh Karki, Chairman of the Independent Power Producers' Association (IPPAN), has said that there is a problem when the IPO of more than 30 projects in 14 months has been stopped at the Securities Board. President Karki said this while speaking at a program organized by the Independent Power Producers Association, Nepal (IPPAN) and Pewada on Wednesday.

He recently said that an environment should be created to invest in hydropower in Nepal through shares. It has been stopped in the Nepal Securities Board,' he said, 'we have planned to collect 30 percent investment in hydropower projects through IPO. It could not come from the IPO and the projects could not be taken forward even after putting equity.'

Although he planned to collect 30 percent of the investment in hydropower projects through IPO, he said that when the IPO was stopped, the projects faced problems. Chairman Karki said that an environment has become available to invest from 1,000 to now 5,000. He also said that since a permanent government has been formed, the businessmen hope that some work will be done now.

Karki also said that although the businessmen are excited to develop the hydropower sector, there are many problems recently. If the Electricity Bill is passed in the same way, the businessmen will have to flee, saying that the Bill will develop hydropower but will discourage private sector investment in Nepal.
