  • To improve the economy, the morale of the private sector should be increased: Federation

Newly appointed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government will adopt a policy to increase the morale of the private sector and encourage investment. In a meeting with the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Prime Minister Oli said on Tuesday that development is not possible without the expansion of the private sector.

In a meeting with officials and members of the executive committee of the federation, Prime Minister Oli promised that the government would take special initiatives to improve the private sector. Prime Minister Oli also said that the economy cannot improve without the private sector and the government's policy is to provide all possible support to entrepreneurs. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel was also present in the meeting.

Federation president Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that it is necessary to increase the morale of the private sector to improve the country's economy. He said that improvement is possible only through the expansion of the private sector, which accounts for 81 percent of the country's economy and 86 percent of employment.

Dhakal said that it is necessary to improve the services provided to the public and the private sector, to ensure an environment in which entrepreneurs can do business decently, and to increase investment through policy and behavioral reforms. President Dhakal said that the government can give non-monetary incentives including inclusion of the private sector in the merit order. According to President Dhakal, it is necessary for the regulatory bodies related to enterprise business to coordinate with each other and encourage investment.

Reminding that common people, entrepreneurs and the government are all in trouble, President Dhakal also said that due to the balance of the external sector, reform is possible immediately. He emphasized that investment in infrastructure by the government and the private sector should not be discouraged in any way. He said that since the new government was formed at the beginning of the financial year, special initiatives are needed to increase capital expenditure.

President Dhakal also stated that it is necessary to solve the dispute regarding the payment of construction workers and dedicated feeder and truck line immediately and create an environment where entrepreneurs can work safely and easily.

The former president of the federation Shekhar Golchha emphasized that the government should increase the expenditure and encourage the investment of the private sector to increase the demand in the market.
