Ropai Jatra of cultural importance is celebrated as a special festival in the villages including Chainpur, Syabun and other villages along with the headquarters Khandbari.
Every year, it is customary to celebrate Ropai Jatra on the day after Gaijatra. This Jatra is celebrated as a special festival in conjunction with Neva Deya Dabu. Also on Wednesday, Dabu presented dances of Newari culture including Dhime Baja.
The Jatra held in Chainpur and Khandbari was a festival of unity and the culture of other castes was also displayed. Comedy satire and Lakhe Nach, Ropai Nach and Maruni Nach of the Newar community were performed in the Jatra.
Locals say that Ropai Jatra is celebrated especially on the occasion of the completion of planting .
