Flood washed away concrete bridge in Sankhuwasabha

A concrete bridge connecting Bhotkhola from Makalu Rural Municipality was washed away. According to the North-South Koshi road plan, a 30-meter-long concrete bridge was swept away by the flood in Akua river. The project chief engineer Savin Koirala said that more than 40 million was damaged when the bridge was washed away. This bridge was completed by North South Koshi in November 2079. According to him, the construction of the bridge was completed 18 months ago at a cost of around 40 million. He said that it was difficult to travel in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality after the bridge was washed away.

According to engineer Koirala, in the last one week, floods and landslides have caused nearly 40 million damage in the north-south Koshi road section alone. Under Khandbari No. 39 km road, Khandbari Thamserku, out of 14 km, the sub-basement road has washed away in 5 km from Arun Than. According to Vinod Dhakal, manager of construction company Sharma Shivshakti JV, road damage worth Rs 1 crore has been caused in this section. Similarly, he said that more than 30 million was damaged when the drains, Gavin walls and other roads washed away in Thamserku Kaptane 12 km road and Kaptane Noom 13 km road section.

'This road section connects to China through Kimathanka. From a geographical point of view, this rock is considered a risk,' said Engineer Koirala, 'because it is located in a remote area, there is a lot of problem because there is more rain in the rains and floods and landslides. Due to heavy rains, poor geography has caused more damage,'' he said. The construction materials of the 900 megawatt Arun 3rd hydropower project are transported through this road. When the road is blocked, Chichila, Makalu and Bhotkhola Rural Municipality will be affected. Even though the sub-base road has been washed away, the barrier road has been opened.
