CPN (UML) MP and former Communications Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota, who is leading the government, has asked the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Indira Rana, to resign from the post.

He suggested that it would be appropriate for him to pave the way for his official conduct to be proved wrong. Speaking at a special time in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Baskota mentioned that he contributed to strengthening democracy by resigning from his position when he was also the Minister of Communications when questions were raised about the 700 million video case, and said that Deputy Speaker Rana should also proceed accordingly.

'I heard - a question was raised about the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, especially in the case of children or many people connected to other countries being sent to America. And here some friends said - this is the destruction of democracy. He cannot be questioned. But what my general knowledge says is that democracy is that system which can raise questions on everyone. And those who have to be tested on the criteria of morality,' he said, 'he has the opportunity to challenge the impartiality of himself, to challenge the correctness and to prove himself right by proving others wrong in democracy and legal rule. If so, my general suggestion is to the Deputy Speaker. When so many questions have been raised in the House, here are some examples. I am one of them. I resigned from my position after a question was raised. I should be investigated, if I am guilty, I should be proven.'

He said that since questions about official conduct have been repeatedly raised in Parliament, it would be appropriate for Deputy Speaker Rana to give up his official responsibility and assist in the investigation.

He said, "The truth should be proven based on the facts and action should be taken." This morality, so much courage, so much courage should be with political people, who call for democracy. So what I have to say is - when so many questions have been raised, if he paves the way from his post, will it get worse? The rest did not have a single answer. The law will do the rest. If there is any investigation, he will do it. I have a suggestion for doing that.'

MP Baskota said that those who call for democracy should be able to dare to answer every question raised on them.

He said, Therefore, raising questions and bearing responsibility, demanding that accountability is not killing democracy. What is more beautiful aspect of democracy is that it helps to strengthen democracy. So when questions arise, what about yourself, what about others? It is not, when a serious question arises. Within our system, within the conduct of a person or within the scope of his official responsibility, he left his post. What was left of the big post and the small post? I am saying that if such questions arise about MPs, make laws and rules about what to do. Don't be so brave. I think that works best. It has also paved the way for transparency.'
