Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has said that she is committed to the development of the far western region of the country. Foreign Minister Rana, who reached Dhangadhi on Wednesday to celebrate the Gaura festival, also informed that she had discussed the development of the Far West region with the Indian government during her recent visit to India.

She said this while inaugurating the basic health center and ward office building built in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan ward No. 4 on Wednesday. During her recent visit to India, she said that she had talked about upgrading the Gouriphanta crossing here to operate at full capacity.

Minister Rana said, 'Just a few years ago, the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had talked about this border when he visited India. This crossing is a 'life line' of our far western region. Therefore, on this visit, I have spoken about this matter on our behalf. It has been said that there should be some written proposal from the Indian side as well. We will upgrade this checkpoint and carry out the process to operate at full capacity.'

Similarly, during the visit to India, she said that she also raised the issue of the multi-purpose playground to be built in Faplu of Dhangadhi. Minister Rana recalled that the government led by the Nepali Congress has been doing development works in Nepal for a long time and said that it was the Congress that led the campaign to make the local government strong and equipped with constitutional arrangements to strengthen the local government, and to make the local government inclusive with the representation of women.

The construction of buildings and other structures is also an indicator of a type of development, she stressed on the need to protect these government properties and maintain them from time to time. She also held the opinion that it is not possible to build any structure and citizens should be able to get the service facilities provided at the local level from those buildings or structures.
