Nepal Bar Association, the umbrella organization of lawyers, has demanded not to continue the process of appointing judges according to the Judicial Council Rules 2074.

President Gopalkrishna Ghimire and General Secretary Anjita Khanal issued a joint statement on Wednesday It has been demanded that the process of appointing judges should be carried forward only after revoking the revised regulations. "As the revised regulations are backward, discriminatory, prejudiced It should be repealed immediately', the statement said, 'if the said regulation is not repealed, the bar will go into strong agitation.'

Bar expressed disagreement with the Annual General Meeting held in Surkhet and the meeting of the Central Executive Council held in Chitwan and the 16th All-Nepal National Lawyers' Conference, 2081 in Kathmandu, drawing the attention of the Chief Justice and the Prime Minister to immediately revoke the Judicial Council Regulations, 2074 (First Amendment, 2080). It is mentioned in the statement already made.

After the Judicial Council amended the Judicial Council Regulation 2074 and provided that the chief registrar will automatically be ranked after the chief when he is appointed as a judge, the bar has been demanding the cancellation of that provision.
