During the two-day visit of Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the issue of strengthening the relationship between the two countries was discussed, according to Amrit Kumar Rai, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is not a meeting of any mechanism, in a way it is an introductory visit of the Indian Foreign Secretary. Although the visit was an introductory one, various issues were discussed," he said. "There are various projects in Nepal run by India. There are various mechanisms between our two countries. The meeting of those mechanisms should be resumed in the coming days and how to go forward.'

He also mentioned the tradition of visiting neighboring countries after he was appointed as the foreign secretary in India. That's when you came to Nepal. This visit has been purely discussed. It has various agreements in the past, programs run with Indian assistance. And, there are three-way mechanisms between the two countries. There was a discussion about how to make it active," he said.
