Chairman of the Maoist Center and leader of the main opposition party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has said that it is a matter of happiness that the working group led by the Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar reached an agreement on the bill related to transitional justice. He has also requested the government to proceed with the agreement constitutionally through the parliamentary committee and the parliament.
At the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the task force coordinator author submitted the report to the Prime Minister and UML president KP Sharma Oli, leader of the main opposition party Dahal and Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba. Dahal said that he believes that the
report will bring Nepal's peace process to a conclusion. "This issue, which has been under discussion for a long time, and it is difficult to reach a conclusion even after reaching a consensus, now with effort and spirit, the working group has made it victim-friendly with the help of others and discussion. Attempts to make it victim-friendly have been made before, and it has been concluded," said Dahal. "This agreement is a happy thing for all of us, not only for political parties, but for the entire Nepali people, it is for peace, stability and prosperity, for all of them."
The leader of the main opposition party, Dahal, also said that after the formation of the government with the Congress under the leadership of UML President KP Sharma Oli, the good work has been done in the transitional justice . "After the formation of the new government, I think it is a good job and I want to say thank you to the government," he said.
When he was the prime minister, Dahal also recalled that a working group was formed to reach consensus on transitional justice by the meeting of the main leaders of the three parties . He said that the committee was formed with the belief that there should be no delay in bringing the issues related to transitional justice to a conclusion and it reached a consensus.
Now the conclusion drawn by the parliamentary committee and the parliament should be passed constitutionally. The working group has submitted the report after a lot of effort. Let's go to the parliamentary committee and full meeting this time through the constitutional process and finish it. Let the people of Amnepali be given a message that the door to peace, stability and progress is better opened and I want to make a special request to the government and the relevant minister for this,' Dahal said.
