Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the current government cannot afford to fail. He mentioned that the current government will work in such a way that changes can be felt within one year.

Minister Gurung said at a press conference organized by Kaski branch of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists today in Pokhara, 'The current government has no excuse to fail, the Prime Minister has also given us clear guidelines on this.'

Minister Gurung said that in order to speed up the pace of good governance and development along with political stability, the two largest parties in the parliament Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) formed the government. "In parliamentary practice, a government of two major parties is rarely formed, we have also used it as a last option," he said, "if this government also fails, the public's trust in the old mainstream political parties will be broken."

Minister Gurung says that the government will focus on economic reform, job creation, good governance and development activities. According to the concept of Digital Nepal, the government will emphasize on electronic governance, he said. Minister Gurung said that the laws related to communication will be amended in a timely manner.

'Even now, some communication institutions are running on the basis of old laws and regulations, they should be revised and amended, the Ministry of Communication will take special initiative in creating the necessary laws,' he said, 'post office and other institutions need to be operated in a modern way.' Minister Gurung said that telecom services will be made more qualitative. He said that he will work by making an action plan for the modernization of the media and the professional development of journalists.
