On the morning of June 28, two buses along with their driver and passengers went missing in the Trishuli river after a landslide broke through a culvert in Sinduregaira, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29, Simaltal on the Narayangadh-Muglin road.

Even after 12 days of the incident, two buses and 43 passengers are still missing till Wednesday. Out of 65 passengers in two buses, three passengers saved their lives by swimming. So far only 19 of the 25 bodies found have been identified. Even though the Nepali security personnel and the Indian technical equipment are constantly engaged in the search, the expected success has not been achieved.

According to the Chitwan district administration, a team of Nepali Army and Armed Police with divers and equipment were searching for the missing bus and passengers that fell into Trishuli about 100 meters below the road since 8:30 in the morning of June 28.

The Nepalese team also used trained manpower divers to search underwater and equipment such as cameras and sonar that can be seen underwater and indicate objects in the depth. But no sign of the bus was found at the scene.

Technicians of India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have come to Nepal at the request of the government. NDRF's 12-member team consists of four divers and three sonar cameras.

The Indian team that arrived in Chitwan on Saturday has been searching since Sunday morning. But even the Indian team could not locate the bus. According to the Chitwan administration, some dead bodies have been found in the Narayani coast and Triveni barrage area far below the Trishuli river. The search team found 25 dead bodies. Out of them, only 19 bodies have been confirmed to be the passengers of the crashed bus. Nine Indians were also in the two buses that crashed. The bodies of five Indians missing along with the bus have been found. The search team has not found the body since Friday, July 4.

The task force formed by the government to study the Simaltal accident under the coordination of the joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Chabilal Rizal came to Chitwan on July 2 and returned after studying and discussing.
