Nepali students studying in Bangladesh have started returning home through the Eastern Border after the protest against special reservation in government services became violent. According to Immigration Office Kakdvitta, about 350 students have returned home in three days

Nepalis are studying in medical colleges and agricultural colleges in Rangpur and Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

Suja Chhetri from Kathmandu, a student at the Dental College in Rangpur, said that there was a disconnection of public relations in the whole of Bangladesh due to the agitation. According to him, communication with the family was lost for a few days when the means of communication such as internet and telephone were closed.

"As soon as I arrived at Kankadvitta, I called the house first", Suja said, "everyone was happy." The border with Bangladesh is about 35 km from the eastern border of Kankadvitta. Nepalis are returning home through Phulbari-Banglabandh route.

Chief of Immigration Office Kakdvitta Mohanal Paneru said that the number of Nepali students returning from Bangladesh has increased and said that this number may increase further. He said, "Students are coming and going, this process will continue for a few more days." Earlier on Sunday morning, 56 students arrived in Kathmandu from Dhaka by Bangladesh flight. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 3,000 Nepalese students are studying various subjects in Bangladesh.
