Highlights

  • According to the law, the general minister and spokesperson of the party have not been suspended. Ravi Lamichhane is the only one who has been suspended and expelled from the club.

Mukul Dhakal, the expelled general minister of Rashtriya Swatantra Party, has demanded to form an inquiry committee on the issue of chairman Ravi Lamichhane's part report.

Addressing a press conference, Dhakal said that there is a need to form a high-level investigation committee within the party regarding co-operative fraud. He said that since he is connected with the life of the party, Ravi's passport and other issues should be resolved now.

He said that since the Supreme Court has decided to proceed with the investigation on the matter of cooperatives, now an independent investigation committee is needed within the party. "Earlier, I supported him because he did not understand the legal process and got into the problem of two passports, but now because of the concern about the future of the party, there should be an independent investigation on the issue of passports as well," he said at the press conference.

He said that there were no allegations or complaints about the cooperative in the past, but now it has been decided that there should be an investigation by the Supreme Court, so the RSVP should form a separate investigation committee.

He accused the National Independent Party of being turned into a Ravi Lamichhane club and said that now it is necessary to form a party from that club. He claimed that it was against the law that he was expelled from the post of Chief Minister without even giving him a chance to explain according to the Political Party Act. Stating that the deputy chairman does not even have the right to remove him from the post, Dhakal claimed that he is legally the party's general minister and spokesperson.

'I have not been suspended by the National Independent Party as the party's chief minister and spokesman as per the law . Ravi Lamichhane has only suspended and expelled me from the club,' he said. According to the Act on Political Parties and the Constitution of the Independent Party, there has been no suspension.'
