The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has stated that the literacy rate of the metropolis is 95.5 percent. Stating that the work progress is satisfactory by spending more than 50 percent of the total income, the Metropolitan Corporation has said that the population is 862,400.
Sumitra Lamichhane, head of planning monitoring and evaluation unit, informed that the infrastructure development and physical progress from the programs and projects conducted in the year 2080/81 was 53 percent. Last year, 24 billion 19 billion 84 lakh 85 thousand rupees were allocated, but only 12 billion 34 billion 52 lakh 94 thousand rupees were spent.
One billion 56 million 57 million rupees have been spent on programs and projects conducted by the local level, state and federal offices of Kathmandu in the year 2080/81.
