On the occasion of the 44th World Tourism Day, Thamel Tourism Development Council and The Kathmandu Post will organize a 'Thamel Nakh Festival' on Friday, October 11th in collaboration.

In a press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday, the organizers informed that the festival will be held in Thamel on October 11th from 10 am to 10 pm. The festival will include local culture, music, art and food. Rajeev Pandey, coordinator of

festival, said that Thamel Nakha is being organized with the aim of developing the spirit of Thamel and as a dynamic hub for tourism. He said that the festival will be unique in providing diverse experiences of Nepal's cultural heritage. The main attractions of the

festival are cultural festival, Kantipur art, kite exhibition, local and international dishes in seven tours, martial arts exhibition, live music mixed with contemporary traditional sounds and tattoo art exhibition etc.

In the past, the program which was organized only in front of the Employees' Provident Fund, has been expanded this year to seven different areas. According to this, there will be a cultural festival at the staff fund complex, Kantipur art at Narsingh Chowk, a sky full of kites on the tourist route, a delicious trip on seven ghumtis and martial arts will be presented by Muay Thai players. On that occasion, Pandey said, there will be programs such as musical dance, tattoo festival.

President of Restaurant and Bar Association (Reban) Sangharsh Bista expressed his belief that the vibrant culture and cuisine of Thamel through the festival will help promote tourism. About 1.8 million rupees will be spent for the

festival and the organizers expect that more than 10,000 people will watch the festival.

With the aim of promoting Thamel as a vibrant center of tourism, Tourism Day is going to be celebrated as a festival differently from the past, said Dhruv Adhikari, Chairman of Thamel Tourism Development Council. He expressed his belief that the festival will increase the status of Thamel as a major tourist destination and reflect common commitment.
