The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has instructed all mobile and internet service providers to remove the ban on Tiktok. The authority issued a notification on Friday and instructed to remove the ban on Tiktok as per the decision taken by the cabinet meeting on August 6.

Along with this, TikTok has started running fully on all devices from Friday.

'It has been decided to remove the ban on the use of social network Tiktok from the meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 6,' the notification says, 'Until the next decision, all related internet services using the authority given by Section 15 of the Telecommunications Act, 053 to remove the ban on Tiktok Providers and mobile service providers have been given instructions by the authority.' They discussed the conditions set by the government at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Wednesday and said that they are ready to accept all the conditions. On the other hand, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology issued a press release on Friday and said that social networks including Tiktok have given citizens an important platform to express their opinions, have public debates, be creative, promote small and medium enterprises and businesses, and entertain themselves.

"These digital platforms are becoming the best means of democratic practice in recent days," the statement said, "blocking or banning social media will disrupt the exercise of freedom of expression by citizens." Such a ban deprives citizens of the opportunity to present their views and participate in the global digital community.

The government is not in favor of curtailing freedom of expression and holding ideas hostage by continuing the ban on TikTok. "We are against any activity that restricts the freedom of expression of ordinary citizens," the statement said. ;

The Tiktok operating company, which has been in contact with the Nepal government for a long time, promised to address the dignity and safety concerns of the society and improve Tiktok accordingly.

"Tiktak's operators have made a commitment to nationwide cyber security, as well as promoting Nepal's tourism, digital literacy and youth employment, and have made a commitment to make content (content) filtering and moderation effective by mobilizing the resources of the Nepali national language," the statement said.
