Chairman of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the sports sector should be considered as a link to introduce Nepal to the world. President Deuba said this while honoring Paralympic bronze medalist Palesha Govardhan at the party central office on Sunday. Bronze medalist Govardhan has been honored by the Congress with Rs 5 lakh in cash.
Mentioning that players are jewels of the nation, he said that players should be respected. He also expressed his belief that the Nepali Congress is taking necessary initiatives for the development of athletes and the sports sector and will take more initiatives in the future.
'Palesha Govardhanji, who he is, the honor of Nepal has also increased due to the fact that he has received an international level bronze medal in the history of Nepal. For that, I sincerely wish Nepali athletes to achieve more success in the future,' he said, 'Nepali Congress is always helping for the development of the sports sector. I express my commitment to move forward in a stronger manner in the future. Players are the jewel of the nation. The sports sector should be taken as a key to make Nepal known to the world.
Congress honored Bharat Singh Mahata, another participating player, with Rs 50,000 and coach Kaviraj Negi Lama with Rs 150,000.
