Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has announced that the scope of health insurance will be at least Rs 5 lakh. Announcing the action plan through a press conference at the ministry on Sunday, Minister Paudel announced that the health insurance coverage, which is currently only one lakh rupees, will be increased to five lakh rupees.

He has a plan to make even the complicated process of insurance easier.

He said, 'In order to widen the current scope of insurance to at least 5 lakh, policy and legal arrangements will be reviewed. Along with that, in order to improve the quality of health insurance services and facilitate the service delivery process, to increase the membership at a faster pace, to include the formal and informal sectors in compulsory health insurance according to the Health Insurance Act, the system of premium and co-payment based on income will be managed.

Minister Paudel has said that he will arrange for the posting of health workers who have problems with adjustment. "Specialist doctors who cannot be posted according to their efficiency will be managed in hospitals according to their services," he said. Minister Paudel said that the manpower will be regularly reviewed and arrangements will be made to fill the vacant positions.

He said that the decision to teach nursing in government hospitals with more than 100 beds and undergraduate and postgraduate level subjects in government hospitals with more than 300 beds will be implemented. Similarly, he said that by expanding the service of the federal hospital and increasing the surgical capacity in the hospitals, they have planned to add infrastructure to the operation theater to reduce the long queue in the surgical service.
