Basant left home in March 2078 and reached America in December 2079 after 8 months. According to family sources, Basant, who reached America after paying around 90 lakh rupees to a broker, was admitted to the hospital on December 11. The hospital informed him that he was infected with tuberculosis. The hospital said that his infection had spread from Basanta's lungs to the left side of his brain.
