On the occasion of Indrajatra, the police arrested 13 people who came to Basantpur wearing t-shirts with the picture of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah. They have been kept at Kathmandu Police Britta Jan Seva.
After the locals objected to the people wearing Balen's T-shirt The police claimed that it was taken into custody for their own safety. "When there was a situation of anger in favor of Balen in the program, the youths were arrested to stop it," said a police officer. But SP Navraj Adhikari, spokesperson of Kathmandu Police, claimed that the youths were detained by the police after the locals asked them not to do anything other than that, saying that they were going to spread the word of God in the Jatra.
On the occasion of Indra Jatra, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is also scheduled to go to Basantpur on Tuesday.
