Manmaya Bishwakarma 'Manu', who is associated with literature and music, has started her parliamentary journey. Born on 8 Bhadra 2038 in Shyamsila-4, Bhojpur, Manu made Dhankuta her workplace after marrying Hari Diyali of Dhankuta in 2058 BS.

Manu, who completed her master's degree from Dhankuta Multiple Campus, has also done her LLB from Mahendra Multiple Campus, Dharan. She says that she got involved in literature, social service and politics with the belief and awareness that education is not just for degrees, but is a tool for social change.
Her literary journey began in 2050. 'Sumadhur Sanjh' and 'Aajko Zindagi' published in Pratini Patrika are her first published works. The poetry collection 'Ainjeru Bich Booki' published in 2070 further established her in Nepali literature. Equal rights, pain, love and rebellion are her main themes in songs, poems and stories. Her works have been published in various newspapers and magazines, and she has also appeared at various literary and cultural events through singing. Literature and music are not only her favorite genres, but also a means of social transformation.
Vishwakarma's activism is notable not only in literature, but also in institutional leadership. She is the former president of the Dalit Women's Association, Dhankuta. As the former president of the World Women Nepali Literature Conference, Dhankuta, she organized women writers. She has served as the treasurer at Gargacharya Vishwabhasha Library, Dhankuta and is currently a member of Kshitij Sahitya Pratishthan, Birtamod. She is also a member of the Nepali Writers' Association, Koshi Province.
She has received various national and international awards in recognition of her literary and social contributions. The Birangana Indrayani International Honor Medal from the Babu Jagjivanram Kala Sahitya Sanskriti Pratishthan in India, the International Bishwanari Nepali Sahitya Medal, and the Shree Narayan Dahal Shreshta Saugat Samman awarded by the Human Rights and Peace Society are some of her notable achievements.
Bishwakarma, who has been working continuously for the rights of Dalits, the oppressed, and women for two decades, is now seen in active politics of the Nepali Congress. She is the regional president of the Nepali Congress Jhapa Women's Association, a regional member of Congress Constituency No. 2, and the president of Constituency No. 2 Women's Association.
She says that her sense of responsibility is greater than the greed for her entry into politics. She says, ‘Along with literature and music, social life will now also be active in politics.’ She believes that the pains written in literature should be addressed in parliament through policies and laws.
Manu, who has been living in Sundarnagar Tole in Birtamod Municipality-6, is thinking of moving forward by integrating literature, social service and politics into one thread. While accepting the certificate of being elected as a member of the House of Representatives through proportional representation on Thursday, she said that she has promised to dedicate her parliamentary journey not only to personal achievements but also to the Dalits, women and voiceless communities.
