UML's Ganesh Singh Thagunna has been elected to the House of Representatives from Darchula. According to the results released by the Election Commission on Sunday morning, Thagunna has been elected to the House of Representatives by securing 18,891 votes.

Thagunna, who is also a member of the UML's Politburo, defeated Congress' Dharmananda Joshi. Joshi secured 15,836 votes. From this constituency, RSP candidate Rajesh Singh Samanta received 8,936 votes, while NCP's Laxman Dutta Joshi received 3,065 votes. From Darchula, RPP's Rajesh Chand received 666 votes, while CPN (Maoist)'s Nawaraj Bhatta received 298 votes.

This is the third parliamentary journey of Ganesh Singh Thagunna, who is also a member of the UML Politburo. He was first elected to the central parliament in the second Constituent Assembly election, 2070. He was then elected as a member of the House of Representatives in 2074. In the 2079 House of Representatives election, he was defeated by Dilendra Prasad Badu of the Nepali Congress.

In this election, Thagunna won.

Thagunna became the President of the District Development Committee, Darchula in 2054. He became active in UML politics after becoming the President of the ANRFSU Darchula-Kathmandu Contact Forum in 2045. He became a member of the District Committee of the Nepali Congress (ML) in 2047.

Thagunna became the Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration in 2078.
