Artists have opposed the decision to disable social media platforms as a government move to take away freedom of expression.

Actors have also protested against the decision to deactivate the social media platforms as they have not been listed by the government of Nepal. Actor Dayahang Rai spoke to Kantipur and objected to the government's decision.

He said, "This is an unpopular decision of the government". It is not a good thing for the government to close it for various reasons.'

Actress Rekha Thapa said that this decision of the government will take away the livelihood of many youth. How many young people are now creating self-employment according to their qualifications through social media. What will happen to them if it is closed? It is not good for the government to threaten to shut down social media," she said. But threatening to stop it means taking away the jobs of the youth . The government should have plenty of room to question itself.'
