In Saptari, where paddy is being cultivated due to rains, only 30 percent has been planted so far. Even in the first week of July, there has not been enough rain here.
Kisundev Raut, head of Krishi Gyan Kendra, informed that only 30 percent of the planting has been done so far due to lack of irrigation.
According to him, more planting has been done in Hanumannagar municipality and Chinnamasta, Tilathi Koiladi and Rajgarh rural areas in the eastern and southern regions of the district, but due to drought, planting has not been done in the northern region.
Although it is estimated that 40 percent planting can be done by July, due to lack of irrigation, the possibility of drying up of the planted paddy is also increasing, according to Chief Raut.
"Even though the pumping set and the motor are used to draw water for planting, now the pumping set and the motor are getting little water, so the farmers are facing problems in irrigating," he said, "if this continues, it will be difficult to save the seedlings."
There is a total of 81 thousand 678 hectares of arable land in Saptari, 78 thousand hectares of paddy is being cultivated. Last year, 80/85 percent planting was done in those lands by this period.
